Job Description

Our client in the real estate/property management industry is hiring for a Manager Finance/Senior Financial Analyst to join their rapidly growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established and well-reputable large organization in the downtown core. This role is primarily on-site.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Train, mentor and inspire a finance professionals
  • Onboarding and offboarding investments as well as analysis of organizational structures, evaluation of fund flow in close coordination with tax, open bank accounts, assess loan agreements, review cash management contracts, review closing statements, purchase price allocations, onboard third-party property managers, etc.
  • Manage investments
  • Prepare/review investor capital calls and distributions
  • Ensure lender compliance, REIT compliance, statutory compliance, governance & control testing, etc.
  • Prepare/review financial and management reporting, including preparing and analyzing return goals (IRR, MOC, TWR)
  • Onboarding and offboarding investments – including review of organizational structures, review of fund flow in close coordination with tax, open bank accounts, review loan agreements, review cash management agreements, review closing statements, purchase price allocations, onboard third-party property managers, etc.
  • Prepare/assess various financial information and analytics to ensure accuracy of reporting as well as optimal performance
  • Prepare/analyze materials for valuation meeting, board meeting and quarterly results meeting
  • Prepare/evaluate financial and management reporting for real estate portfolio assigned, including preparing and analyzing return goals
  • Prepare/assess investor capital calls and distributions
  • Reporting – Fund reporting and investment property reporting
  • Prepare/assess financial statements and investor reporting prepared in accordance with US GAAP – Investment Company Accounting and IFRS
  • Manage the external audit and tax reporting process with big 4 firms
  • •Prepare and analyze consolidated financial and operating results of the business and support preparation of quarterly results presentation to the Senior Management team
  • Financial, Planning & Analysis
  • Review valuation models
  • Monitor liquidity and assess capital needs for the business
  • Work with asset management team to develop an annual budget as well as a 5-year business plan
  • Assist with regular forecasting/reforecasting and related analytics
  • Monitor liquidity and assess capital needs for the business
  • Support value-add initiatives
  • Assist with process & system enhancements with focus on scalability for future growth and improving efficiency. Including acting as the key finance liaison and training staff and third-party accounting teams
  • Assist as needed with due diligence related to refinancing, dispositions, development and re-development
  • Assist and liaise with tax consultant, as necessary for real estate tax reassessment and appeals
  • Team Training & Development
  • Assist with setting up an ‘Individual Development Plan’ for a team of finance professionals to help them with necessary skills and technical knowledge required to expedite their growth into leadership roles.
  • Manage documentation of FinOps & reporting processes, procedures, and controls
  • Analyze sector to sector procedural inconsistencies, provide recommendations for improvement & feedback for team member development


Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive work experience with public accounting and industry experience is ideal
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics, Yardi, JD Edwards, Hyperion is considered a strong asset
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel
  • Superior communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with all levels
Must have:

  • CPA or CA designation
Nice to have:

  • Experience in real estate is an asset
  • Knowledge of financial markets is an asset
  • Experience in effectively managing a team is an asset

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: Bachelor's Degree
