Job Description

Our client within the construction industry is seeking a standalone HR professional to join their team. Reporting to the CEO, you will focus on employee relations, performance management, talent management, onboarding/offboarding, investigations & conflict resolution, coaching managers and more! The organization is comprised of approximately 60 employees.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Remain current on HR trends and make recommendations based on industry best practices and competitor initiatives
  • Ensure legal compliance and communicate changes to legislation with all staff
  • Champion employee engagement to create an even stronger environment for staff
  • Review compensation best practices
  • Full-cycle recruitment and talent management
  • Improve the recruitment & retention strategies
  • Manage employee records regarding personal information, vacation, turnover, benefits, compensation, evaluations, etc.
  • Partner with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure that regulations are being met
  • Ensure the Performance Evaluation Program is on time and it’s milestones are being achieved
  • Develop & revamp company policies
  • Work with leadership to develop initiatives and programs that encompass company values
  • Conduct employee exit interviews
  • Develop programs/initiatives related to employee retention through surveys
  • Manage onboarding for employees and revise the program to ensure the best employee experience
  • Coach managers regarding their people management functions


Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 4+ years of HR experience
  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources
  • Good-standing member of the HRPA
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and ability to interpret contracts
  • Knowledge of current industry trends and best practices
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to influence leadership & stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, organizational & planning skills
  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgement with competing priorities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to explain complex issues to leadership
Nice to have:

  • Experience in a standalone HR role considered an asset
  • CHRP/CHRL designation considered an asset
