Job Description

Our reputable client in the Education space is seeking a full-time permanent Practicum Coordinator. The ideal candidate will hold a degree/diploma in the Social Services field with 3+ years of working experience. We are looking for a dedicated individual who is seeking a career in the field of Social Services, Gerontology and/or Education. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Placement Coordinator will be responsible for managing day-to-day placement operations of Gerontology Program.
  • Reporting weekly to the Associate Director Field Placements with progress reports of placement processes.
  • Responsible for supporting students from beginning to end of placement.
  • Responsible for ensuring there are enough placement sites, and contracts.
  • Knowledge of program operations and student advising within the program.
  • Conduct workshops for students and ensure timelines and deadlines are met for the program.
  • Ensure a high graduation rate, by supporting students through programs and conducting the correct matches for students to meet their individual needs.
  • Work alongside Program Lead and Placement Coordinator(s) to ensure deadlines and goals are met.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of program coordination, and potential placement sites required for matching the students.
  • Prepare presentation and outreach materials to promote the program.
  • Ability to make good judgment and evaluate students prior to and during placement.
  • Other duties as required assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Social Service Worker degree/diploma in the Social Services field with specialization in Gerontology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant professional experience working with seniors in a long-term care facility, retirement home, assisted living, etc.
  • Experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • Ability to comply with policies regarding confidentiality, privacy and recordkeeping.
Must have:

  • Open to working from Monday - Friday, regular business hours with the potential of evenings/weekends.
Nice to have:

  • Healthcare practitioner CPR & First Aid training.

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: College Diploma

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, 40-hour week.
