Job Description

Our client within the healthcare space is seeking to add a Labour Relations Consultant to their organization. This role will begin as a contract with potential to extend and/or turn permanent.

In this role, you will advise on labour and employee relations matters including the administration, interpretation and application of various collective agreements, policies & programs. You will also handle investigations, disputes and grievances for a designated client group.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coach & advise clients regarding human rights, labour relations, employee relations, interpretation of collective agreements, legislation, as well as policies and procedures
  • Responsible for disciplinary and non-disciplinary matters, investigations, complaints, attendance management, performance management & workplace accommodations
  • Responsible for grievances, including tracking, scheduling, investigations, attendance at Step 2 grievance hearings, preparation of written responses and settlement agreements
  • Lead workshops regarding labour relations
  • Interpret and administer multiple collective agreements
  • Assist in the preparation for grievance hearings and conflict resolution
  • Participate in labour management meetings
  • Provide guidance to resolve complex HR issues

Qualifications and Experience
  • 4+ years of experience with Labour Relations
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with employees, managers & union representatives
Nice to have:

  • CHRP or CHRL designation considered an asset
  • Experience working in social services or broader public sector preferred
