Job Description

Our National Canadian not-for-profit client is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team on a full time and permanent basis. This role will report report to the Director of Finance and will be responsible for the overall success of the organization by managing financial oversight, reconciliation and reporting for the organizations programs as well as day to day financial needs of the organization. The Finance Manager will also provide in office supervision and support for the Finance Department.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • In office supervision of the Finance Department personnel, including providing support as required
  • Day to day transaction processing and approvals
  • Oversight of monthly financial reporting
  • Responsibility for review and reporting on PD programing (including reconciliations, sponsorship, deferred revenue, finalizing event/cost centre statements)
  • Responsibility for review and reporting on Membership (including membership calculations, reporting, branch payments, reconciliation, education/section credits, and forecasts)
  • Responsibility for review and reporting on Preferred Suppliers (including revenue/expense & AR monitoring, reconciliation, reporting, forecasts, and annual branch payments)
  • Reconciliation and analysis of other financial statement areas including deferred revenues and accruals
  • Review of monthly reconciliations performed by the Finance Team
  • Documentation for financial transactions and processes
  • Developing and implementing approved policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Support and participate in committee meetings as required
  • Respond to ad hoc questions, investigations, and requests
  • Support to the Director of Finance in special projects, reporting and analysis


Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree or college diploma in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) is an asset
  • 3 to 5 years of management experience and progressive financial responsibility
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Great Plains is preferred
  • Experience in a fast-paced Non-Profit or Charity environment
Nice to have:

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
