Job Description

Our client, a global provider of business legal services, is seeking a Senior Director of Finance to join their Toronto-based team.

In this role you will lead the strategic direction of the financial function, manage 20 finance professionals, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership teams. You will also have ownership over financial reporting, FP&A, controls, revenue cycles, expense management, and the annual audit process.

LOCATION: Currently operating on a hybrid model with 2-3 days a week in the downtown Toronto office, and 2-3 days a week work from home.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as business partner to the Office Managing Partner and Executive Director in all financial reporting and financial planning to enable effective operations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 20 finance professionals.
  • Oversee variance analysis to budget, strategic analysis of key metrics, and profitability analysis.
  • Lead long-term business plan and financial priorities, including annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Support identification and implementation of technology to improve effectiveness of ERP.
  • Assess and measure effectiveness of existing business processes and develop scalable process improvements.
  • Oversee Toronto and Ottawa office audits.


Qualifications and Experience
  • 10-15 years leadership experience in a professional or business services field (consulting, advisory, legal, information, talent, or IT services).
  • Undergraduate degree followed by a CPA and/or MBA.
  • Strong managerial skills with a record of coaching and developing teams.
  • Experience in reducing operational complexity, implementing process improvements, and executing effective change management plans.
  • Tech savvy and experienced in financial system upgrades and implementations.

Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
