Job Description

Our client in downtown Toronto is seeking to add a Human Resources Lead to their growing organization. This is an exciting time to develop the entire Human Resources infrastructure for the company.

Please note that this role requires on site presence 4 days per week downtown Toronto.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the department in terms of culture and the overall strategy. This will include planning, executing, and assessing employee relations and people and culture programs, such as hiring and reviews, policies and practices
  • Oversee all recruitment efforts and establish programs in recruiting, testing and interviewing to provide support in candidate selection and exit interviews
  • Manage, develop and maintain company HRIS system including HR software and ATS software to eliminate administrative tasks, empower employees and organize and maintain past and current department records
  • Ensure legal compliance of HR implementation of both federal and provincial requirements in the areas of compensation strategy, performance management, employee relations, health and safety and talent acquisition
  • Plan and implement pay structure changes through job evaluations, surveys and budget analysis
  • Benefits Administration: maintain, process and asses employee benefits programs and claims
  • Conduct new employee orientations and employee relations counseling
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures and training
  • Manage annual HR programs to ensure consistent application across the organization including Performance Management, Talent Development, and Employee Engagement initiatives
  • Investigate and resolve employee concerns
  • Create/implement tools for performance management
  • Manage the organization's compliance to collective agreements including grievances and negotiations
  • Direct the process of organizational planning that evaluates company structure, job design, and workforce forecasting
  • Oversee payroll manager


Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Human Resources leadership role
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or related field
  • Previous start-up experience preferred
  • Experience overseeing Payroll
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task projects in a dynamic, fast paced start-up environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a solid team player with the ability to build rapport, maintain confidence and integrity at all levels of the company
Nice to have:

  • Previous experience overseeing a Payroll Manager preferred
  • CHRP/CHRL Designation a strong asset
  • Union experience preferred
