Collections Specialist - Mississauga

Our client in the Manufacturing sector is looking for a Collections Specialist to join their team for a 7-8 week contract. This position is on-site located in Mississauga. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2-3 years experience. Apply today!

Roles and Responsibilities

• Review daily shipments to ensure the appropriate customers are on hold or released according to their credit risk based on past due invoices and credit limit availability
• Request customer payment on outstanding invoices to ensure payments are received within established credit terms; receive postdated cheques from customer if appropriate
• Review daily overdue report and contact customers with outstanding payments to be made
• Manage accounts receivable aging to achieve specified targets
• Manage short payments and/or deductions on customer accounts
• Update appropriate departments on sales orders that are being released or remaining on hold in order to advise customer
• Respond to customer inquiries on a variety of matters including account adjustments, establishing payment schedules, cheque information
• Responsible to open new customer accounts and assign an initial credit limit; review credit application terms and trade references prior to opening account
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• 2-3 years’ experience in credit and collections
• Interacts professionally and build rapport
• Ability to give strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
• Able to adapt well to change
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Nice to have:

• University Degree in Finance/Accounting considered an asset
• Experience in the manufacturing/distribution industry an asset
