Job Description

Our client, in the Retail industry, is seeking an Human Resources Manager to join their team! This is a permanent position offering a hybrid working environment (2 days in office and 3 days work from home).

This role will primarily focus on employee relations, health & safety, training & development, performance management as well as coaching/mentoring the HR team. The client is open to individuals that do not have experience in labour relations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Participate in workplace investigations
  • Coach managers on performance and attendance management processes, progressive discipline as well as terminations
  • Oversee performance reviews
  • Manage incident reporting and implement programs that support a healthy workplace
  • Assist with succession planning, talent development and learning & development plans
  • Execute on HR communications activities
  • Assist with HR technology projects required for process improvements or strategic objectives
  • Make recommendations for HR policies, procedures & programs
  • Prepare all documentation required for offboarding
  • Lead the grievance, arbitration and mediation process
  • Liaise with union representatives on collective agreement interpretation, as well as employee and policy issues
  • Participate in collective agreement negotiations

Qualifications and Experience
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related field of study
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a generalist capacity
  • Experience with having multiple direct report(s) in a HR capacity
  • Labour Relations/union experience (an asset)
  • Proficiency with HRIS / ATS systems preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and solve issues
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to adapt and be flexible to changing priorities
  • Ability to deal with confidential information and sensitive matters
  • Ability to professionally deal with all levels of management and staff
  • Completion or perusal of CHRP or CHRL designation an asset

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
