Job Description

Currently seeking a Bilingual HR Manager to join our nonprofit client in Ottawa, ON. In this role, you will have 2 direct reports (HR Assistants). You will oversee the operations of the whole sector: health & safety, talent management, recruitment & retention, disciplinary actions, benefits administration, policies & programs, HR projects and supporting leaders with HR matters.

The role offers a hybrid model, casual dress, benefits, RRSP, 3 weeks vacation plus additional days, sick leave and free parking.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain current HR filing system and personnel records database
  • Responsible for full cycle talent acquisition, talent management and retention
  • Ensure thorough onboarding and offboarding of staff
  • Develop and maintain a Succession Planning Model for all staff positions in the firm
  • Act as primary point of contact and coaching support on day-to-day performance, employee relations issues, lead disciplinary process and conduct investigation(s) for compliant(s)
  • Maintain the attendance records
  • Administer benefits
  • Manage annual performance review process, assist in wage reviews, and maintain job descriptions and competency profiles
  • Lead Occupational Health and Safety committee and ensure all policies and procedures are followed
  • Work closely with managers and finance providing HR support
  • Further develop policies & procedures and ensure they are implemented across the organization

Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience
  • Diploma/Degree in HR or related field
  • Must be fluently bilingual in French, both written and spoken
  • Strong communication, relationship building and conflict resolution capabilities
  • Knowledge of laws in human rights, Federal and Ontario labor standards, and occupational health and safety
  • Demonstrated good judgement and decision-making
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Nice to have:

  • Intermediate fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Previous experience within nonprofit/child and youth services preferred

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
