Job Description

Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join the team at their Scarborough location! This position requires the candidate to work 100% onsite.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' progressive experience in Human Resources, experience working in the manufacturing industry, and strong knowledge of employment legislations. Unionized experience is a strong asset!

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Administer, interpret and explain HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations
  • Support, consult, train and coach all levels of the management team regarding people-related laws, policies, programs
  • Prepare and maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, terminations, leaves of absences, transfers, disciplinary actions or promotions
  • Create and develop recruitment strategies and partner with managers to coach on the interview process
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation
  • Prepare HRIS reports, as well as manage and update the system with any changes
  • Act as a point of contact for employee relations
  • Oversee employee engagement activities (pulse surveys, stay/exit interview, etc.)
  • Assist with performance management and monitor productivity metrics
  • Administer disciplinary actions and terminations as required, coaching managers and providing counsel
  • Other related tasks as required

Qualifications and Experience
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' progressive HR experience in a generalist capacity
  • Excellent knowledge of current employment legislation
  • Experience working in the manufacturing industry is a MUST
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a strong asset
  • Solid understanding of key HR metrics and a general knowledge of principles/practices of HR
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have strong time management skills, and be able to manage competing deadlines in a busy role
  • Must have strong familiarity with HRIS software and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
