Job Description

We are seeking a Sr. Business Analyst who will join our Municipal Government client in the Transportation sector on a 6-month contract with the option to extend for another 6-month.

The Sr. Business Analyst will join the Enterprise Architecture department to assist in multiple areas including Enterprise Safety. The Sr. BA will play an important role within the Business Architecture team in assessing new opportunity requests submitted by business departments and facilitating towards appropriate solutions.

Pay rate: $75-85/HR
Location: Toronto downtown (mix of remote and on-site work)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify, gather, document and validate project (business and systems) requirements
  • Develop Use Cases with associated Test Scenarios and expected results
  • Conduct feasibility studies
  • Review systems design
  • Determine systems implementation process, constructs workflow charts and diagrams
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures
  • Provide references for users by writing user documentation
  • Provide support to and assist with user training
  • Liaise with various departments to ensure the solutions implemented are operational and functioning
  • Perform support to the QA team by assisting with the verification of scripts and confirm business requirements
  • Identify and recommend changes to enhance effectiveness of the system
  • Configure hardware and/or software for the purpose of demonstrating system behavior and troubleshooting when investigating problems as well as detailed analysis of transaction processing design
  • Develop device availability reports as well as service failure reports and statistics

Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in Computer Science / Electronic Engineering or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • ITIL, CBAP, PBA and/or PMP certification an asset
  • Extensive experience in assessing, developing and analyzing business and system requirements
  • Knowledge of network and data communication protocols
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills to identify, validate and verify system, software application and payment device issues
  • The ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while being flexible and able to handle rapidly changing scenarios
  • Ability to work under high service demands and time constraints
Nice to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in payment technology, digital products and channels
  • Understanding of automated fare collection concepts used in public transit
  • Experience using Perl or Shell Scripting for interface validation
