Job Description

Our awesome client is seeking to hire a Mortgage Funding Officer to join our growing Hamilton Mortgage Team. The Mortgage Funding Officer will be responsible to coordinate the funding of mortgages from the time the mortgage instructions are sent to the solicitor to funding of the mortgage. The Mortgage Funding Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that transactions are processed in an efficient manner, ultimately contributing to a high level of borrower and broker satisfaction. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate loan closings by instructing solicitors and ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Daily review of in-progress mortgage files and adjudication of documentation related to solicitor condition satisfaction, along with professional and courteous correspondence to solicitors, to ensure that outstanding funding conditions are satisfied in a timely manner, prior to funding.
  • Updating mortgage files and notifying appropriate parties (underwriters, managers, solicitors, etc.) of any relevant changes to the files. Responsible for escalating any suspected fraud, misrepresentation, or other concerns to management as soon as possible.
  • Calculate interest adjustment amounts, property tax holdbacks, and monthly property tax components.
  • Ensuring that the mortgage files are compliant with client's underwriting guidelines and procedures, as well as ensuring that legal, AML, ATF, and KYC requirements have been met.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of AML/ATF/KYC procedures.
  • Assisting other members of the mortgage team with daily tasks as required


Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a financial field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the mortgage industry, preferably in the Alt-A/B mortgage market.
  • Knowledge of fraud risk in the mortgage industry, as well as an awareness of current AML/ATF/KYC practices.
  • Superior time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, as well as strong attention to detail.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times, be a team player, respect co-workers, and always display a positive attitude

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: College Diploma
