Job Description

Our Toronto based government agency client in the transportation industry is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join them on a 12-month contract role with the possibility of extension.

Location: Toronto (remote due-to Covid-19 until the office reopens)
Pay rates: $75-85/HR (7.25 hours per day)

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Extensively analyzing business processes and workflows and facilitating business process mapping and reengineering
  • Using interviewing, analysis and requirements gathering methods to deliver work products such as use cases/user stories and user acceptance criteria across multiple project engagement iterations
  • Demonstrating how process and technology integrate to deliver high business value
  • Describing the relationship between a proposed solution and trade-offs based on the client's business requirements
  • Consulting with management and users to determine the needs of the system
  • Designing a system to meet the business goals
  • Specifying inputs and formatting outputs to meet users’ needs
  • Using techniques such as sampling, model building and structured analysis, along with accounting principles, to ensure the solution is efficient, cost-effective and financially feasible
  • Developing specifications, diagrams and flowcharts for programmers to follow
  • Overseeing implementation, coordinating tests and observing initiation of the system to validate performance

Qualifications and Experience
  • 6 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated applied knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, and leadership in the successful deployment of significant technological solutions
  • Expertise in requirements definition and functional design, including modeling tools and methods.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including data modeling, process and workflow analysis.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with agile/scrum methodology and iterative practices in a service delivery life cycle
  • Knowledge of Enterprise ITSM Support processes, including a deep understanding of incident, problem and change management processes
  • Experience facilitating workshops and focus groups with strong business engagement skills (JAD etc)
  • Prior experience with the Service Now application interface (or similar tools) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the business domain and drive to defined standards which are intended to resolve current state service issues
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, Visio, Project
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, typically in a technical field such as computer science, information technology, engineering or information systems - or – relevant certification
