Job Description

Our client, an established Non-Profit organization is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to join their team! This role will involve building out a Communications strategy from the ground up, and offers the chance to join a friendly team in a growing organization! This position is primarily remote, however occasional travel to the Newmarket office will be required.

The Manager of Communications supports the organization in developing and implementing communications planning to further the strategic vision, mission, and values of the organization. This position is responsible for managing all communications plan activities and building external relationships with the organization's constituencies, including community service providers, funders, and the media, and also serves as the lead resource specialist on all public relations and communication issues.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Management to develop and implement a multi-year comprehensive communications strategy and plan including community engagement
  • Assist with identifying and recommending communication opportunities related to operational planning, organizational priorities, initiatives, and emerging issues
  • Recommend and develop strategic actions to respond to communications opportunities in a proactive manner
  • Develop strategic actions to deal with, and to respond to, critical issues and make recommendations to Senior Management
  • Oversight of content of the Society’s internal, external website
  • Oversight of the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic materials including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures
  • Oversight of strategies and actions such as impactful and creative messaging for engagement of government officials and community stakeholders

Qualifications and Experience
  • Must have a post-secondary degree or diploma
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience working in a Non-Profit/Association is strongly preferred
  • Must have stellar written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite is strongly preferred, must be proficient in MS Office
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Must have excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Must have the ability to work well both independently and in a team
