Job Description

We are currently hiring for a Manager, Corporate Communications opportunity for our client, a global mining company based out of Toronto. This is a full time, permanent opportunity that offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits and other perks. The Manager, Corporate Communications will play a lead role in the development and implementation of communications strategies in support of corporate goals, reputation, and awareness of the organization among key audiences, with a focus as well in Investor Relations. The team is currently working a hybrid of 2-3 days in the office and the remainder from home (office located downtown Toronto). They will be planning on returning to the office full time in the new year.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare writing pieces for Annual Reports and Material Issues Reports.
  • Prepare speaking notes for special events, AGM and other presentations and engagements.
  • Oversee social media program including content calendar and content generation.
  • Build and manage relationships with external media contacts.
  • Manage preparation of media briefs, media strategy, and media liaison with trade level publications as appropriate.
  • Identify new media outlets and platforms with next generation audience of investors and stakeholders.
  • Manage writing and editing of communication materials such as drafting, editing and submitting press releases, messaging documents; drafting presentations and preparation of quarterly call speaker notes.
  • Ensure website content is accurate and updated regularly and serve as primary liaison with Web service provider, website designer and French translators to oversee maintenance and management of website.
  • Craft new website content when updates are required and prepare writing pieces for periodic blog posts.
  • Post media interviews to website and oversees purchasing of media licensing rights of interviews by senior executives.

Qualifications and Experience
  • This position requires a minimum education of a bachelor’s degree and/or college diploma in business, communications, marketing, journalism or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5-7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent writing skills with the demonstrated ability to create professional, interesting and impactful messaging.
  • Ability to communicate confidently across all levels of an organization, including senior executives.
  • Experience with investor relations (IR) and preparation of sophisticated presentations that clearly and compellingly communicate company priorities and key messages.
  • A dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously within a group setting.
  • Working knowledge of business-relevant social media channels, and experienced coordinating and creating content and strategy.
Nice to have:

  • Skilled in PowerPoint, video editing, and Workiva is an asset.
  • French, Spanish or Portuguese language an asset.
  • Experience in mining an asset.
  • Experience communicating with media an asset.

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
