Job Description

Our client, a leading real estate development and investment company, is looking for an Assistant Project Manager/Project Coordinator to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The ideal candidate would have 4+ years of experience in project coordination/project management within residential construction (High-Rise and Mid-Rise).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing the construction project to ensure QA standards are met and delivered on time
  • Tendering the project to trade contractors
  • Negotiating with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Maintaining and monitoring the budgets
  • Creating, monitoring and updating project schedules and updating weekly progress plans
  • Creating, monitoring and updating look ahead schedules
  • Monitoring the progress of the project and report as required
  • Tracking/logging daily site activities
  • Reviewing and negotiating changes to scope of work, reviewing and managing claims for extra costs from Trade Contractors
  • Ensuring that the health and safety project plans are implemented
  • Coordinating the trades and contractors and ensuring that they are performing as required
  • Assist and coordinate permit procurement
  • Collaborate with design team and participate in construction coordination meetings
  • Shop drawing review and coordination
  • Document control and coordination
  • Preparing monthly Project Reports
  • Maintaining all lines of project communications
  • Ensuring construction documents are organized and maintained

Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of construction experience within project management or project coordination.
  • Have all necessary certifications: Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid, Basics of Supervision.
  • Have a Bachelor’s in Business, Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent.
  • Possess thorough knowledge in designing and building multifamily large scale construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret Construction working drawings, including: architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and landscape drawings.
  • Must have strong budgeting and scheduling skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player and have a strong customer focus.
  • A valid G driver’s license, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to various office locations.

Education and Certifications

Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
