Job Description

Our client in the construction industry is seeking an HRBP to join their team! Reporting to the HR Director, you will be responsible for supporting a client group with talent management, performance management, employee relations, compensation planning, training & development, succession planning and more!

This role has a large emphasis on talent development and using tools such as 9 box to assess talent and work with managers on succession planning. Another large function of the role is employee relations - investigations, coaching managers on performance improvement discussions, delivering termination conversations, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner with the business units to identify new job requirements, advise on existing, and conduct a thorough job analysis to develop job profiles
  • Provide strategic workforce planning
  • Interview alongside hiring managers
  • Move talent within the organization based on operational changes and requirements
  • Conduct a compensation analysis for workforce changes (ie: newhires, transfers, promotions, etc)
  • Annual compensation review and summarization of data
  • Disability management and coordinating RTW plans
  • Employee relations and conflict management
  • Conduct investigations and apply progressive discipline
  • Conduct layoffs, terminations and offboarding as required
  • Support roll out of corporate initiatives, policies and programs
  • Deal with grievances when necessary
  • Support leaders with performance management, providing advice on the strategy and supporting succession management activities
  • Training and development
  • Conducting talent assessments to identify top performers to develop as next leaders

Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years of related HR experience
  • Strong background in talent development
  • Previous experience in a matrixed organization
  • Previous experience with shared services preferred
Nice to have:

  • Completion or pursual of CHRP /CHRL designation considered an asset
  • Previous union experience an asset
  • Knowledge of SAP an asset
